About us

Dubrava Cultural Centre was founded by the City of Zagreb in 1958. Its mission is lifelong learning and cultural diffusion. In terms of programme and human resources the Centre is among the biggest cultural institutions in the City of Zagreb, and in Croatia as a whole.

Based in Dubrava, a borough located in the eastern part of Zagreb, the Centre benefits from a rich multiethnic and multicultural community of 150,000 people. It strives to engage local population in various artistic, cultural and educational activities, taking place on two different locations.

There are 38 employees working in the Centre, and a number of regular contributors to the programmes, ranging from new-media artists, theatre directors, actors to biologists, teachers, journalists and designers. 

Dubrava Cultural Centre consists of several operational units, managed by their respective team leaders, and dedicated to different artistic, cultural and educational purposes: Events and Projects Centre, Visual Arts Centre, Children Theatre Dubrava, Multimedia Centre, Music Centre, Dance Centre, Traditional Croatian Culture Centre, Production Centre, Language Centre, Computing Centre, Programs for elderly people, Regional and international programmes.

The majority of the programmes are brought to life locally. Each year up to 100,000 people of all age groups participate in the socio-cultural activities organised by the Centre. Out of these, 1,800 participate in regular annual educational activites.

The activities of the Centre are not only limited to Dubrava area and it also organizes activities and events for the citizens of Zagreb and other parts of Croatia. The Centre also works together with similar international institutions, various festivals, associations and artists. Currently, the international cooperation and exchange are important guidelines to follow.

Elementary and advanced computing courses for all age groups

EVENTS AND PROJECTS CENTRE
Events: floral and music competitions, ethno and eco fairs, artistic performances, events for school holidays, celebrating annual festivities, local socio-cultural events (Dubrava Days – a seven day long social, cultural and sport event organized in cooperation with the local community, associations, institutions and companies)
Projects: natural and cultural heritage education programmes, charity programmes, journalist and photo workshops

Staff and programme exchange, project conception with european cultural centres; contemporary art exhibitions, multidisciplinary and urban projects; hosting international theatre performances, participation at international children theatre festivals; presentation of croatian traditional culture; artist-in-residence programme
